The Boucle effect creates a lot of volume and gives a fun texture to spice up simple and easy projects. Airing instead of washing goes a long way. Materials like wool are even naturally self-cleaning. Hand-washing is always the gentler option and the one we recommend. Dry the garment flat and let them always dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry.
Do not wring.

WAK is a very friendly company

WAK is a very friendly company. Their designs are fresh but still have classic lines. Their yarn is of excellent quality. I do feel that sometimes their pattern instructions lack detail. Sometimes I would like a little more explanation with the instructions.

Happy Knitter

I’ve been happy with ALL my wak kits. I always wait until I’m finished with one project before I start another. I love opening the bag to see and feel the yarn and read the directions. The directions have been clear for each project…I read the directions several times and make trial swatches for new processes and stitches. I’m in the middle of making the Merida blanket now and can’t wait to choose my next project.

Great Patterns, Beautiful Yarns

Great, easy to understand patterns and beautiful yarns to knit them with! I’ve knit both the Saturday Top with The Cotton yarn as well as the Pinecone Sweater with The Petite Wool yarn. The Cotton yarn is a beautiful Peruvian pima cotton with an amazing drape! I absolutely loved knitting with it! The Petite Wool is a Peruvian highland wool that is so easy to knit with and holds and shows off knitted patterns beautifully. The only negative is that it does tend to split quite easily if you’re knitting quickly, but I still love it! I’m looking forward to knitting with other We Are Knitters yarns!

MY ISSUES

I found that the yarn (Pima Cotton) to split to a serious degree, negatively affecting ease of knitting and appearance of finished garment. I also ended up ripping out the stitches and redoing the ribbing at the neck of the mini Abruzzo sweater in the more conventional method; i.e. sewing both shoulders, then picking up the stitches and knitting in the round. WAK instructions were only closing one shoulder, picking up stitches and knitting the ribbing on straight needles, then sewing the shoulder and ribbing seam which resulted in a messy and asymmetrical neck. Yes, my method requires two sets of needles, straight and circular, but makes a big difference. In general, my impression is that the intention is to end up with a "homemade" looking item based on your photos. I guess for a total beginner this is fine, but if you are beyond that it's disappointing.

I'd give more stars if I could

I'd give more stars if I could. To be fair, I haven't asked anything complicated of them. Ordered 1 kit at the height of the pandemic in 2020; it was a little slow to arrive, but completely understandable as we all hunkered down and crafted and baked bread. Like many crafters, I love starting projects, but I'm not so good at finishing projects. So I started my simple sweater in Summer 2020 with their very easy to follow instructions, but was distracted by other projects and did not attempt to finish the sweater until July 2021...when I realized I was going to be short yarn (my fault entirely, I'm making the sweater for a larger person, so I KNEW I would need more yarn than they originally supplied in the kit...NOT the fault of We Are Knitters that I had to order more yarn). They still had the yarn, a year later, which is pretty unusual for yarn stores. I was able to easily buy more skeins to finish the sweater. Love the designs. Love the kits. Love the yarn. They've got it all!
