My order is a gift, what do I have to do?
What a great idea! 😁 If your order is a gift, don't worry, you won't have to change anything in your purchasing process: How can I complete my purchase?
You can either send the parcel directly to the lucky receiver or have it delivered to your home and give it to the receiver later. If you opt for the first choice, you won't have to worry about the prices as they won't be shown in any way inside the parcel and the parcel doesn't include invoice.
At the moment, we don't have the option to add a personal note to the parcel but we don't exclude exploring it in the future.
⚠ EXCEPTION FOR SHIPMENTS TO THE UK, CANADA AND AUSTRALIA: if you are sending a package as a gift to one of these countries, please keep in mind that, due to customs laws, we have to put the invoice of your order in the package as well, which will always include the prices. We are sorry for the inconvenience
Payment methods
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept several different payment methods:
- Credit card (VISA, MasterCard)
- American Express (US only)
- PayPal
- WAK Gift Card
We do not offer cash on delivery as a payment option.
Please bear in mind that WAK is based in Spain. If your bank has surcharges for transactions outside the US, please understand that we cannot be held responsible. Please use a card without such surcharges, or use a different payment method.
My payment is not being accepted, why?
Sometimes card issuers may block payments as we are based in the EU (Spain) and there is a high level of security checks applied to overseas transactions. This may result in a flagging of unusual or risky activity!
The best thing to do in this case is to contact your card company to resolve this.
Or, as an alternative you can always use Paypal!
How can I get an invoice for my order?
No problem 😊
Just write to our customer service team and they will send you the invoice. You must enter your order number and your purchase email.
When will the payment be processed?
Once your card information has been entered and you click on “Place order”, the amount will automatically be charged to your credit or debit card.

Kits
What comes in a kit?
Everything you need to make your own garment:
- The yarn.
- The QR pattern.
- The needles/crochet hook (optional).
- A tapestry needle.
- A WAK embroidered label
- 100% recyclable packaging.
- A gif.
How long will it take me to make a kit?
It depends on several factors: your skill level, the type of garment, and the material.
How do I choose my product?
In order to choose a kit, in the upper menu, when you place the mouse on the KITS category, you can choose which type of kit you want according to the technique, fiber, level, type of garment and our bestseller.
If you’re a beginner, we recommend the “beginner” kits; little-by-little you can improve and progress on to “easy”, “intermediate” and then “advanced” kits.
It’s best to choose your kit according to your skill level. If you’re an expert, you can make whatever you like; the sky’s the limit!
Once you have selected the type of kit you want to see, use the "filters" on the top right corner to precise your research according to the price, fiber, level of difficulty, type of garment, for whom, technique, and find exactly what you are looking for.
If you are looking only for skeins or needles, you can find them in the upper menu in the YARN, BUNDLES and TOOLS category, where you can select the type of fiber, needles, packs of skeins and other products.
Can I purchase the garments already made?
We don’t sell garments already made, but instead something much more fun and entertaining: everything you need to make it yourself!
To help you, we have created easy-to-follow, simple patterns; plus a growing online collection of video and written tutorials for many of the skills and techniques required in our patterns.
And of course, we are here at any time all along your project to help you with any doubt, so feel free to write to us!
I saw a kit and now I can’t find it. What can I do?
If you know the name of the product, use the search bar on our website to find the product. You can also search by indicating the type of garment: snood, sweater, scarf, etc.
If you can’t find it using the search bar, or if you don’t remember the name of the product, write to us with information about the item, the type of material, a short description, and if you have a photo, even better!
We will answer you as soon as possible.
Colors
I need more yarn, is it possible to buy skeins of a specific dye lot?
Unfortunately, specific dye lot numbers cannot be re-ordered. Our yarn is dyed in small batches and it would be impossible to keep a stock of every dye lot for the occasional re-order.
But don't worry, we try to keep the differences from one dye lot to another as small as possible, so feel free to reorder as many skeins as you need to complete your project 😊. These differences cannot be completely avoided, due to the 100% natural raw materials used. However, when existing, they are very slight and most likely you won't even notice them 🙈.
If you are ordering wool for a project you have in mind and are unsure about the exact amount of yarn you will need, we always recommend that you add 1 or 2 more skein(s) to ensure that your entire project has the same color tone.
If you ordered a kit from us and run out of yarn, please see: I have run out of yarn before finishing my project, what can I do?
How do I select the colors I want?
The colors preselected in the kit are those of the sweater worn by the model in the photo. But you can choose your favorite colors by clicking on the color circles.
This way a windows opens up showing the skeins in larger view, with the scrollbar on the right you can view all skeins.
And to see how your favorite kits would look in different colors and get inspired by our community, check out the corresponding hashtag (#nameofthekit) on Instagram.
The color I want is in stock, but the page won’t let me buy it, why not?
This generally means that you are trying to buy a color that we don’t have enough in stock of to fill your order specifically.
It is possible that we are in the process of replenishing our stock of the product and updating our site to reflect these changes.
To have the most up-to-date version of our stock, we recommend that you refresh the page or try clearing your cache.
Still getting an error?
Contact us and we will try to solve the problem as soon as possible.
Can I buy yarn samples ?
No, we do not have samples for sale.
We recommend you to take a look at our product sheets on the web, or get inspiration from our community in #weareknitters.
If you have any questions about our fibers please contact our ATC team and they will be happy to advise you.
Sizes
How do I know what size to order?
Make sure your clothes fit you perfectly 👌.Find your size in the size guide. We also recommend you to take a look on the measurements details available for each pattern and each size in the "Measurements" tab of our kits and then compare them with a garment that you already have and that you like how it fits you.Take into account the fitting of each design (cropped, ...) and the final result you would like to get (oversized, fitted, etc.). As a reference, in the description of our kits, you'll find the size worn by the model in the photos.
Do the patterns have sizes?
Yes, most of them do! When you buy a kit, you can select the size you are interested in in the size drop-down menu. If there is no drop-down menu to select the size, it means that this pattern was designed as a single size by the type of garment.
Depending on the size you choose, we will automatically adjust the number of skeins required as well as the price of the kit.
If you choose size S, M, L or XL, the pattern (digital) you will receive includes the instructions for any of these four sizes, regardless of the size you have selected. For kits which are also available in plus sizes, if you choose size XXL and XXXL, you will receive instructions for these two sizes only.
Within the description of the kit, in the "measurements" tab, you have access to the measurements for each available size.
If you need a different size other than those specified, we recommend viewing this post: How do I adapt my pattern for a different size?
For more details: How do I know what size to order?
How do I adapt my pattern for a different size?
Most of our kits are available in different sizes. However, if you have bought a kit and want to modify the pattern to make the garment in a different size other than those available in the original pattern (bigger or smaller), you would have to change the pattern taking into account the recommended gauge or tension used in the pattern so the measurements of your project turn out as planned. We do not offer this type of personalized service, but we can help you with the following articles:
- If it is a knitting pattern
- If it is a crochet pattern (this article was written specifically to adapt a crochet pattern to another type of fiber, but the process for modifying a pattern to another size is exactly the same, so it will certainly help you.)
It is important that you keep in mind that, depending on the complexity of the design and your knitting experience, adapting a pattern to make a garment bigger or smaller can be a difficult process that requires a lot of attention.
We have a growing selection of kits available in sizes XXL and XXXL, please click here to see them all.
Do I need more balls of yarn for largest sizes?
Most of our kits have sizes, and depending on the size you choose, you will receive the exact number of skeins you need to complete your project. Depending upon the kit, you may need extra skein(s) for largest sizes compared to other sizes.
If you think you will need a larger size than size XL or else a smaller size than size S, you always have the possibility to adapt the pattern. You will find some help on how to adapt a pattern here.
Please remind that for sizes larger than XL, you probably need to add some extra skein(s), depending upon how much bigger you want your garment to be. Use our Yarn calculator tool to calculate the approximate quantity of fiber you'll need.
Make sure you choose the right size, visit How do I know what size to order?

Out Of Stock Products
The color I want is out of stock. Can you notify me when it's restocked?
Of course!
Our customer service team will be happy to help you with all your questions about replenishing our fibers and much more.
You had a color but it’s not available anymore. Will you have it again?
If you bought or saw a color and you no longer see it on our website*, most likely we have stopped producing it. In that case, it will not be available for sale again, sorry.
Please, check our website as you may find a similar color or a color that could fit well with your project. We often launch new colors!
* Not to be confused with colors that are temporarily out of stock and appear in grey. These colors will be restocked. For more information, see: The color I want is out of stock. Can you notify me when it's restocked?
When will a kit be available again?
Since we are constantly improving our kits and patterns, a kit may be temporarily unavailable because we are working on it. These kits appear on our website with the mention "Out of stock":
Do not worry, it's just a matter of time for them to be available again.
However, if you've seen or bought a kit and you no longer find it on our website, it means that it has probably been removed from our catalog and won't be available again.
We invite you to check out our kits and see if you find a similar one or if you fall in love with another. We are launching new collections regularly!
In any case, if you have any questions about a certain kit, you can write to us and we will answer you as soon as possible.
Recommendations
I’m a beginner, which kits do you recommend?
Our kits are divided by skill level, from the most basic to the more advanced.
You can filter the difficulty of different levels.
The best way is to start with any kit for beginners. Hat, scarves or snoods made with bulky yarn are the easiest.
We recommend:
Each kit has everything you need to make your garment: balls of wool, needles, QR pattern…
To help and guide you through your project, we have a section of tutorial videos where we explain the stitches and techniques step-by-step.
To expand your knowledge and keep growing as a knitter don’t miss the articles on our blog, where we post new techniques, tips and advice to help inspire you 😊.
What can I make with just one ball of...?
With one ball of yarn you can make a hat, a snood, a scarf or even a pair of mittens.
Visit our website to see lots more options!
Also, please visit our blog patterns section, and have a look at our articles on what to do with leftovers.
How many balls of yarn do I need to make a scarf or hat?
Feel free to use our yarn calculator. It will show you how many balls you need per type of yarn and project.
Some examples:
> To make a hat, you’ll only need 1 ball of yarn, if it’s made from petite wool or bulky wool.
> To make a scarf, it depends on what stitch you are using and how long you want your scarf to be. We recommend between 1 and 3 balls of bulky wool:
- 1 ball if you want to make a short cowl like the Downtown Snood.
- 2 balls if you want to make a scarf like our High Line Loop.
- And 3 balls if you want to make a long scarf like our Glastonbury Scarf or the Cucho Scarf.
If you prefer to use Petite Wool, you'll need 4 or 5 skeins to knit a scarf. Check out the following kits: Ranta Scarf, Morse Scarf and Le Marais Shawl.
How many balls of yarn do I need to make a blanket?
The number of skeins for a blanket depends very much on the size you want to knit and the type of wool.
Feel free to use our yarn calculator. It will show you how many balls you need per type of yarn.
If you want to knit something with the chunky Peruvian wool "The Wool" in a certain size, we recommend four or five skeins. In our collection we recommend the blanket Udon Blanket with five skeins. If you are looking for something bigger and warmer, check out our Udon XXL, with 9 skeins.
You can also knit something smaller and softer, for children, for example. For this you need two or three skeins of cotton or another, finer wool. In our collection we recommend the Bee Blanket, which is knitted with three skeins of our Pima cotton, or the blanket Dragonfly Blanket with only two balls of Pima cotton.
If you are looking for something even softer, we recommend trying our Kit The mellow blanket, with five skeins of our Meriwool, one of our most exclusive and finest fibers.
Check out all our blanket kits here.
Can I interchange the fibers included in my kit?
Our kits are designed to be knit or crocheted with a certain type of fiber, since the included pattern is designed only for this particular fiber and would not work for another. Each pattern is a world in itself, and for this reason, they can only be purchased with the fiber you see in the description. This is why we recommend that you look directly for a kit in the fiber you want (see How do I choose my product?). You will surely find a design that you will fall in love with!
If you have bought a kit and want to use the same pattern to knit or crochet it again in another fiber, you would have to adapt the pattern taking into account the gauge or tension differences between both fibers so that the measurements of your new project correspond to those of the original pattern. We do not offer this type of personalized service, but we can help you with the following articles published on our blog:
- If it is a knitting pattern: HOW TO MODIFY PATTERNS FOR DIFFERENT YARNS?
- If it is a crochet pattern: HOW TO ADAPT A CROCHET PATTERN?
It is important that you keep in mind that, depending on the complexity of the design and your knitting experience, adapting a pattern to another fiber can be a difficult process that requires a lot of attention.
Enjoy the experience of knitting without any worries, by buying the kit that you like and taking advantage of the work we have already done for you, writing the pattern step by step for this fiber 😉.
Straight or circular needles: which ones should I choose?
Working with straight or circular needles doesn't affect the difficulty or ease of knitting, which depends on the level of the specific pattern or project you are working on and not on the needles used for it. It's a personal choice, and although you can definitely knit with both types of needles, their differences will probably affect your preference for one over the other when working on a specific project.Straight or standard needles can be easier to hold for beginners because they can be positioned under the arm during knitting. These needles can only be used when knitting flat pieces and when the project is worked in rows. Their long shape and wooden material can result in heavier needles. Sometimes, it can be difficult to cast on as many stitches on straight needles because of the limited space available for the material you are working with. In addition, the weight of the materials and the needle together can cause fatigue to the inexperienced knitter.Circular needles can be used to perform the same tasks as the straight ones, which are: knitting flat pieces and working in rows. They can also be used for patterns that are worked in the round. This is particularly handy when creating cylindrical items, such as sleeves, snoods and cowls without a seam. However, it seems important to remind you that very few of our patterns are designed to knit in the round.
Some of our kits that offer circular needles are not designed to be knit in the round. Another advantage is that they can be used in Raglan patterns (garments like tops and sweaters that are knit from top to bottom, in one piece). In addition, regarding their composition, the wooden parts of the needles are shorter, resulting in lighter needles. The flexible cable, which can be rolled up, makes them convenient while storing or on the go. You are less likely to drop stitches while using these needles. The variety of cable lengths available make them suitable for many types of projects. They can also be more comfortable for knitters who prefer the continental method.

Materials
Characteristics and care of our Fibers
What are the main characteristics of our fibers?
(1) Consult this chart to obtain needle conversion information.
(2) There could be a ±10% variation in the weight of the skeins.
(3) The gauge is a 10x10 cm / 4x4 inch square. Learn more about knitting measures on patterns.
(5) Check out our guide for washing and caring for your We Are Knitters fibers.
How to wash and take care of our fibers?
Our fibers are 100% natural, and for this reason, your garments require a little extra care so they can last for a long time. Make sure to carefully follow the care instructions provided for each fibers.
For more details, check out our blog:WAK PIMA COTTON CAREorTIPS FOR WASHING YOUR WE ARE KNITTERS WOOL AND COTTON CLOTHES
Other tips:
We recommend that you do not wash your garments too often. It is best to avoid washing your wool garments until it is completely necessary. For example, if you get it stained, it's best to spot treat the stain with a bit of water and gentle soap instead of washing the whole garment. Wool is a breathable material which doesn't retain odor if it's ventilated properly, perhaps if you'd like to get rid of odor you can either hang your garment in a well ventilated area with natural light or lightly steam it with your iron (with no cleaning products), this should do the trick and will extend the life of your garment.
This way, you will avoid pills from appearing, although it is possible that with time and use, some may appear. To remove pills, we recommend using a felting needle: push pills back into the garment instead of cutting them. This will help to maintain the overall quality of your garment.
If you notice that your clothes shed, this is something normal, since our wool does not contain any synthetic fiber. In addition, many of our fibers (such as Big Wool, Petite Wool, The Wave, Meriwool, Bling Bling Yarn) are made from a single ply and so they are slightly more vulnerable to shedding. Remember also to avoid as much as possible to undo your project while working as it tends to weaken the fiber.
To maintain your clothes in good condition, we also advise you to protect them from jewelry, to avoid wearing them over and under clothing that includes buttons, zippers, or any other accessory that may get caught in the wool and damage it.
Finally, we recommend you to keep your knitted projects together in a separate area of your closet to avoid mixing them with the rest of your clothes and take the risk of damaging them.
Remember also not to hang them so to avoid stretching and deformation.
I have run out of yarn before finishing my project, what can I do?
Our kits are designed to include the quantity of fiber you need to knit or crochet both the tension sample and the garment in the size you bought, based on that same tension sample.
Different reasons may explain why you've run out of yarn before finishing your project:
> First of all, we recommend that you check your tension and compare it with the one recommended in the pattern. Making a tension sample before starting your project is one of the most important steps, as it guarantees that your final measurements will match perfectly with the ones you see in the pattern. The tension sample also determines the fiber consumption, so if your tension differs because you're knitting too loose (less stitches per inch/cm, resulting in a bigger sized piece), you may run out of yarn.
> If your sample was initially correct, make sure that you've maintained that same gauge throughout the whole project. To do so, you can measure your tension in different areas of your project.
> If your tension is correct, we recommend that you check if the stitches and rows in your project match the pattern instructions for your size. You may have accidentally added more rows or stitches to the project which causes you to use more yarn than the amount calculated in the kit according to each pattern and size. If you are knitting, learn how to count stitches and rows in our blog, or if you are crocheting, please see: count stitches and rows.
If you detect a gauge issue, you have two options:
- you can unravel your work and start again making sure to tighten your tension. This is best option to ensure that your final garment will have the correct measurements, texture and fit. Try knitting the gauge sample as indicated in the pattern and if you still can't reach the recommended tension, we suggest to go down a needle/crochet hook size to compensate and match the pattern tension. Once you've achieved the correct tension, you can begin your project making sure to maintain the correct tension throughout the whole project. By doing this, you will surely have enough yarn to finish your garment and it will fit you perfectly!
Don't get discouraged if you get it wrong the first couple of times, we are sure your finished garment will be worth it 💪. - you can buy extra yarn on our website to finish your garment. If you go for this option, please keep in mind that since your tension is too loose, your measurements won't be the ones expected: they will be bigger and consequently will affect the final fit.
You have the right tension and followed the instructions correctly but still don't have enough yarn? Send us pictures of your work on a flat surface with a measuring tape positioned on top to measure both width and length. We will have a look at it together with our experts and provide all the help you need! 😊
I found one or several knot(s) in my skein(s), is that normal?
We make every effort to avoid knots in our skeins, although it is possible, that during the production process of our fibers, a knot has to be made. We would like you to keep in mind that without this knot, we would have to throw away huge amounts of fiber in perfect condition, which is completely contrary to our efforts to protect the environment and the reduction of waste. We hope that you understand and support us in this daily effort.
If you find a knot in your skein, do not worry, it is very easy to solve. Here we explain to you how to proceed, there are two different options:

- Cut the knot with scissors and make an invisible knot to join the two threads. To learn how to do it, please read the following article: HOW TO MAKE AN INVISIBLE KNOT TO JOIN TWO YARN TAILS.
- Depending on the yarn you are working with, you can cut the knot with scissors and felt the loose strands by rubbing them together. This techniques works very well in roving yarns (Big wool, Petite Wool, The Wave, Meriwool, etc.). To learn how to do it, please read the following article: HOW TO JOIN STRANDS BY FELTING
If you find more than one knot in the same skein of any material, please contact us and send us photos. Due to our high quality standards we would like to find a solution, if this is the case with your order.
The yarn breaks when I knit, is that normal?
Are you knitting or crocheting your project, and the yarn suddenly breaks? Don't panic! Here you'll find some tips on how to avoid this from happening:
- First, try to avoid applying unnecessary tension by pulling the strand too tightly while knitting or crocheting. Remember that our yarns are 100% natural and they need a little bit of extra care when you use them for your projects.
- Also, make sure you aren't separating the strand when you insert the needle into the stitches.
- Furthermore, please consider that when the skein is formed, the ends of each skein could be less resistant than the rest of the skein because of the torsion applied during manufacture. To check this, unravel the first 2 or 3 meters of the skein and try the resistance of the yarn.
If you pulled too hard and the yarn breaks we suggest that you read this post from our blog that teaches you how to make an invisible knot to join your strands. You will surely find it very useful!
If the yarn keeps breaking, take a picture and contact us. It is possible that you may have received a defective skein and if that is the case we will provide you with a solution as soon as possible. We want you to be 100% satisfied with our yarns!
I am allergic to wool or have sensitive skin, what options would you recommend?
Although our 100% pure sheep wool is usually found to be soft, we are well aware that every person is different.
-> If you have sensitive skin, please mind that this doesn't mean that you can't have fun with one of our kits or fibers! 😉
We have plenty of kits made out of Meriwool and Baby Alpaca. These fibers are well known to be extremely soft and they are particularly suitable for babies and young children who are often prone to have sensitive skin. Baby Alpaca wool is much softer than sheep's wool, so in the case of sensitive skin, it could definitely be recommended, although in some cases even this very soft wool may be found to be slightly itchy. Alpacas are not sheep, but similar to the llamas, native of the South American Andes but smaller and they produce much softer fur.
Apart from that, we can offer other alternatives such as Mixed Yarn (50% certified organic wool, 50% certified organic cotton), Touch Me Mohair (baby alpaca, superkid mohair and mulberry silk). For extremely sensitive skin, our Pima Cotton (GMO free) are a safe bet.
Feel free to try our samples first, so you can touch our yarns before taking any decision.
-> Are you allergic to wool or animal fibers in general? In this case, it is better not to take any risk and go for Cotton (GMO free), which are our non-wool options. We offer both knitting as well as crochet kits for these fibers! 👍
You fell in love with a Wool pattern but you can't knit or crochet it due to your allergy? Check out the following article: Can I interchange the fibers included in my kit?
Do you have vegan yarn?
The answer to this question is YES! If you are vegan, you can also enjoy the high quality of our yarns and live the WAK experience by choosing our Pima Cotton which is 100% cotton.
We offer kits for these wonderful fiber!
My garment is bigger than it should be, why?
Different reasons may explain why your garment has bigger measurements than the ones in the pattern for the size you chose:
> First of all, we recommend that you check your tension and compare it with the one recommended in the pattern. Making a tension sample before starting your project is one of the most important steps, as it guarantees that your final measurements will match perfectly with the ones you see in the pattern. If your tension differs because you're knitting too loose (less stitches per inch/cm, resulting in a bigger sized piece), your garment may end up being too big.
> If your sample was initially correct, make sure that you've maintained that same gauge throughout the whole project. To do so, you can measure your tensionin different areas of your project.
> If your tension is correct, we recommend that you check if the stitches and rows in your project match the pattern instructions for your size. You may have accidentaly added more rows or stitches to the project. If you are knitting, learn how to count stitches and rows in our blog, or if you are crocheting, please see: count stitches and rows.
If you detect a gauge issue, youcanunravel your work and start again making sure to tighten your tension. Thisis the bestoption to ensure that your final garment will have the correct measurements, texture and fit. Try knitting the gauge sample as indicated in the pattern and if you still can't reach the recommended tension, we suggest to go down a needle/crochet hook size to compensate and match the pattern tension. Once you'veachievedthe correct tension, you can begin your project making sure to maintain the correct tension throughout the whole project. By doing this, your garment will fit you perfectly! Don't get discouraged if you get it wrong the first couple of times, we are sure your finished garment will be worth it💪.
You have the right tension and followed the instructions correctly but the measurements still don't match the ones in the pattern? Send us pictures of your work on a flat surface with a measuring tape positioned on top to measure both width and length. We will have a look at it together with our experts and provide all the help you need! 😊

If you detect a gauge issue, you can unravel your work and start again making sure to loosen your tension. Try knitting the gauge sample as indicated in the pattern and if you still can't reach the recommended tension, we suggest going up a needle/crochet hook size to compensate and match the pattern tension. My yarn keeps twisting as I knit, is this normal? What can I do to avoid it?
It's completely normal and unavoidable for your yarn to twist while knitting/crocheting. This is caused by the material's own nature. When transforming a fiber into yarn, torsion is used in the spinning process to make the material resistant. In some occasions, this may cause your yarn to twist more than usual which can result in an uncomfortable knitting experience. Don't worry, you can try these tips to minimize the yarn twisting and make your knitting project a comfortable and fun experience 😊.
1. It's best if you knit with the external strand of yarn from your skein. Even though it might seem more comfortable to pull your working yarn from the center of the skein, this tends to over-twist the strand. However, if you pull from the outer strand, your ball of yarn will rotate and the strand will unravel itself in a uniform manner, therefore avoiding excess twisting. The friction generated while your skein rotates may cause your wool to shed. If you want to protect your skein, it's best to place it inside a smooth container to ease rotation.
2. Keep your skein a bit further away from you. This will help your strand straighten itself as you pull from it to knit.
I am left with a big amount of yarn after finishing my project, what can I do?
Our kits are designed to include the quantity of fiber you need to knit or crochet both the tension sample and the garment in the size you bought, based on that same tension sample. Our skeins are all of the same size so you are likely to be left with a certain amount of yarn after finishing your project. For example, if you need 4 skeins and a half to finish a garment, you will receive 5 skeins, and if you respect the recommended tension, you will be left with half a skein. However, if you have more than one skein left after finishing the project and the garment looks smaller than it should be, please go on reading this article.
Different reasons may explain why you've more than one skein left after finishing your project:
> First of all, we recommend that you check your tension and compare it with the one recommended in the pattern. Making a tension sample before starting your project is one of the most important steps, as it guarantees that your final measurements will match perfectly with the ones you see in the pattern. The tension sample also determines the fiber consumption, so if your tension differs because you're knitting too tight (more stitches per inch/cm), you may have too much yarn left.
> If your sample was initially correct, make sure that you've maintained that same gauge throughout the whole project. To do so, you can measure your tension in different areas of your project.
> If your tension is correct, we recommend that you check if the stitches and rows in your project match the pattern instructions for your size. You may have accidentally skipped rows or stitches which causes you to use less yarn than the amount calculated in the kit according to each pattern and size. If you are knitting, learn how to count stitches and rows in our blog, or if you are crocheting, please see: count stitches and rows.
If you detect a gauge issue, you have two options:
- you can unravel your work and start again making sure to loosen your tension. This is the best option to ensure that your final garment will have the correct measurements, texture and fit. Also, bear in mind that some types of stitch just can't shine if knitted too tight. Try knitting the gauge sample as indicated in the pattern and if you still can't reach the recommended tension, we suggest to go up a needle/crochet hook size to compensate and match the pattern tension. Once you've achieved the correct tension, you can begin your project making sure to maintain the correct tension throughout the whole project. By doing this, you will surely use the right amount of yarn to finish your garment and, the most important, it will fit you perfectly!
Don't get discouraged if you get it wrong the first couple of times, we are sure your finished garment will be worth it 💪. - If you like your project the way it is, of course you are totally free to keep it like that, and use the leftovers for a new project. In our blog we have tons of ideas and free patterns to download.
Please bear in mind that depending on the complexity of the model and your experience, adapting a pattern by adding rows or stitches to reach bigger measurements may result in a quite difficult task, if not frustrating, so we do not recommend it.
You have the right tension and followed the instructions correctly but still you have more than one skein left? Petit Point
What is petit point?
Petit pointis an embroidery stitch that is generally done on canvas or another similar “open weaved” fabric. It is mostly used for tapestry.
Which material is used for the thread in petit point?
The material used for the petit point kits is 100% Pima Cotton
What is the difference between petit point and cross-stitch?
Cross-stitch is a popular type of embroidery that creates X-shaped stitches. It takes longer than petit point because each stitch needs to be worked twice, once to make each side of the X.
I already know how to knit, will this make learning petit point easier?
Although knitting and petit point are two completely different crafts, the fine motor skills and dexterity you have built up knitting will help you to learn petit point; but previous experience is not necessary for our beginner kits. Unlike knitting, petit point uses a single stitch for the duration of the project.
How long does it take to finish a We Are Knitters petit point design?
Depending on your skill level, your time required may vary, but in general a project should take you about 15 afternoons.
What can I do with my petit point kit?
The pattern included in the kit can be used for
- Tapestries,
- Pictures,
- Handbags ,
- Pillow covers,
- Other rectangular items of the same dimensions.

In the US, shipments are sent via UPS or USPS, outside the US, with DHL and the local post office. In Canada, Purolator International is in charge of the delivery of your package.
All of these are high quality, trustworthy companies that we have longstanding relationships with.
Regardless of which company delivers your package, you will receive an email with a tracking number and the telephone number of the shipping company in case there are any problems.
I don’t know if I will be home when they deliver my order. What happens if I’m not home?
If the delivery fails, the delivery driver will leave a notice in the mailbox, or you will be notified by SMS or e-mail.
Check your tracking link for more information on the status and current location of your package. It could be ready to be picked up at a specific location. For further details:
- US standard shipping (UPS SurePost): you will be able to see more details on the USPS tracking page, the USPS tracking number appears under shipment details as "Postal Service Tracking ID", which you can track here. Please note that it only appears once your package has been handed over to USPS.
- US express shipping / Canada: further details can be found on the tracking link we sent you.
- International: you will be able to see more details following the "international shipment number" link. This number appears in the upper part of the tracking link that we send you by email. Please note that it only appears once your package has entered your country.
If you have not received this email with the shipping information (also look in the spam folder, just in case), contact us so we can resolve the issue.
Will I be notified when my order will be delivered?
Of course! As soon as your order leaves our warehouse you will receive an email with the shipping status and the estimated delivery date.
You will also receive all of the details to track your package in real time.
f you can't pick up your order, you can do the following:
You can contact the shipping company directly. You will find their telephone number in the email you received with your shipping information. They will tell you what steps to take to receive your kit.
If you prefer, you can also write to us and we will help you with the delivery of your package.
Where can I find the tracking number? Where can I track my order?
Once your order has left our warehouse, you'll receive an e-mail with the tracking number to track your package. Sometimes, it's possible that you won't see any updates while trying to track your package as soon as it's been shipped. Don't worry! The tracking website will update in a few hours.
> You can access the tracking link to track your package by logging in to your WAK account.
> If you've placed an order as a guest on our site, you can also access your tracking link here, by indicating your order number and the email associated with your order.
> If you've mistakenly entered the wrong email address while placing an order on our site, you can access your tracking link here.
If you're having any transport or delivery issues, we suggest that you contact the courier and provide the tracking number so they can assist you. You can also contact our customer support.
I just placed an order but I made a mistake. Can I change it?
Don't waste a minute, write to us and we'll try to modify it before it's too late! We insist on the word "try", since it depends not only on us, but on a long chain and logistical restrictions from the moment we receive your order. We launch the preparation process as quickly as possible to minimize our deadlines. For this reason,we want you to know that we do not guarantee these types of requestssince it depends, among other factors, on your reactivity, the status of your order and the volume of orders in preparation at that time.
In all cases, don't worry, write to us and we'll find a solution!
I have not received what I ordered, some products are incorrect and/or missing. What can I do?
We recommend that you first check the packing slip that you'll find inside your package (or your confirmation email). This is the resume of your order, with the details of all item(s) purchased. The products you receive should match with the packing slip.
If it is not the case, in terms of color, reference or quantities, please contact us and we will get back to you quickly to solve this issue.
If you received several kits, and you are missing a skein, please check all kits - although rare, occasionally a skein may have ended up in the wrong bag.
What can I do if items arrive damaged?
Although rare, occasionally an item may suffer damage during transport, or may be defective. We apologise for the inconvenience. Please take a picture and contact us and we will get back to you offering the best solution possible 👍
Can I return my order?
Of course! You have 14 days to return your order. All products seeking a refund must be returned in their original condition and complete with all items.
